Dear Furiends,
I am combining this post with Saphera’s monthly weigh-in…. Usually, this does not go well because she gets wiggly, but this time, we bribed her with treats to sit nicely on it….
In other words, her diet is working, but slowly.
Mr. M even helped demonstrate how to step on the scale.
Then, I lined up the treat on the edge, so she would have plenty of room to sit t on it herself. … In the process, I, too showed her how to sit on it propurrly… Which ended up with these rather odd selfies.
Umh yes that is slobber on the scale too I guess that treat was that good.
In case you’re wondering, I weigh 10;2 pounds and Mr. M weighs 10.8, so he’s not just all fluff and fur. Saphera is just under 80 pounds.
Have a wonderful week, my furiends!

Treats to sit on the scale when dieting. Mom says that she likes that idea very much. Thanks for hopping and sharing such cute photos. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

My staff thought my methods were odd, but one can not argue with success… besides, it wasn’t a cupcake, just a pumpkin one. >^.^<

We think diet is a four letter word. Well, actually it really is. 🙂 But we’re glad the diet is working for Saphera.

Since she’s lost some of the excess, she is playing more – which I love… she even helping me with a digging project last week…. she is a super good digger. >^.^<

Poor kids. I can see why both dogs AND cats would resist standing on a scale. It’s cold and slippery and it doesn’t look like it’s a great spot for napping. Good work with the training. It looks like it’s paying off, if your weigh sessions are going by quicker. Keep up the good work!

My main disappointment is that it doesn’t move when you hop on it … love that skateboard. Er, it’s probably a good thing that it doesn’t move, though, since Saphera avoids that skateboard. >^.^<

Dezi does, too. In fact, if I’ve interpreted some remarks, she weighs more than both of us combined. Raema is still a baby and is bigger than either of us…. we know this because she outgrew her harness and it was a larger size than either of us wears… We never realized how small we were. .^.^<

I am glad that you were able to bribe Saphera to get on the scale and that her diet is working.

It took a lot of patience and 2 treats, which probably were counter-effective for her diet… >^.^<

Hmm, my consultant weighs me and my personal transportation device together then again minus me and gets a good figure that way. Sadly no bribes needed to do that! Have a great week. purrs ERin

We don’t have a transportation device big enough for Saphera. M has one, but Saphera and I just hook into the seat belt.

My cat’s veterinarian has a scale like the ones used to weigh wiggly human babies – you, know, with a basin-type place to put the kitties for their weigh-ins. Bigger animals have to try to stop wiggling enough to stand on a platform scale.
Anyway, that’s good news about Saphera’s diet. It is hard to take it off once it’s put on (said someone with the same problem!), and it will be a huge benefit in the long run! Good kitty!

We should probably find a different sort of scale for Sahpera, but I doubt a baby one would work. She wiggles a lot and is a lot bigger than a baby, though she acts like one, sometimes. >^.^<

That is great news about Saphera’s diet working. It’s tough plodding a diet but we are glad to hear about her success.

I am glad Saphera’s weight loss is going well and you 2 kitties are a good weight. I just weighed some of my cats yesterday and Prancie tried to cheat by taking one paw off the scale 🙂

I think we need a bigger scale for Saphera, but ultimately, we succeeded.
Have a wonderful day, Ms. Ellen! >^.^<

She’s smart, she can learn to not wiggle too much on the scale. It takes time, like dieting.

Love the pictures! I couldn’t get Bear to climb on a scale if I bribed him. I’ve even pretended I didn’t want him to touch the scale in the hopes he’d be all over it. Back when I weighed him occasionally, I’ll do the old “get on the scale holding the cat” minus “get on the scale without the cat” equals the cat’s weight. But Bear doesn’t weigh 80 pounds either …

The staff tried holding Saphera, first, but she wiggled too much. That was when M and I took over…. it required bribes and patience, but we succeeded. >^.^<

I’m glad Saphera’s diet is working! That was nice of you two to help with the weigh-in.

She is a good surrogate mom…. and the sooner she gets to her proper weight, the sooner I won’t get into trouble for sneaking treats to her…. Would you believe that the staff has accused ME of being part of her problem?!?!?! >^.^<
