  1. I think the newer ones are probably safer than when they first became available. Still, we aren’t supposed to be too close to them while they are operating. I was told to be at least 6 feet away from a microwave that is in use. Considering my family history of cancer, I do my best to stay at least that far from it while it is on. It may not make a difference for me in the long run, but at least it shouldn’t add to the problem.

    1. Mom tends to pop something into the microwave, then go do something else – often out of the room. Now that you mention it, she doesn’t stay near the thing, either, so I guess I’d better start keeping my distance. =^.^=
