Angel’s Forever Home

Dear Furiends, today, I’m sharing a letter from our dear furiend, Angel. Purrseidon
Angel Came way up from woodsDear Purr and All your furry friends….I love hearing about you & thought you might like knowing a secret!  Do you know I came from the vast woods in Appalachian Ohio hills? Yes, I saw the “Lady’s” old 1856 School House from the woods up the hill. My deer friend told me there was a place I could hide for the winter, under the middle porch. Angel when I first came - porchMy deer friends were so special. My closest friend even left his two antlers near the house after he shed them. I know they were for me. Well, winter came soon. I was eating the bird’s bread Ma threw to them, but she thought I belonged to the neighbor lady and wanted to eat the birdies!  She told me to go two times before she realized I was homeless. Angel When I first came hidingAnd did  I ever have to fight for my house. Wild Ferals know where there’s a house to hide, a farm house & barn too, homo Sapiens who will feed them.Angel when I first came 3.jpg Twenty cats came down when I declared my territory! Well, now I’m content in my cave bed during the winter. It’s been a long Indian summer!  See me waiting for the Lady to feed me? She named me Angel for the three months I stayed outside. Finally, I named her Ma.Angel on porch with Ma.jpg

Dear Purr, oh, I wish you could hear me purrrring. Ma came home from the woods, well, she smelled like leaves, but she was so happy, gave me a favorite Delectable treat, and told me the news while I stayed with her and listened to her in the living room. She said you told everyone my story today. I was purrrrrfectly happy, rolled around with my feather toy and ran around until I went into a day dreamy sleep. I love you so much, Purr. That was really nice of you. Ma tries to send you and all your furry friends some pictures of me. I am afraid of other cats after the trouble outside with 20 wanting this ol’ house. Purr and blessings to all, Love Angel Kitty

      2. Mr. M was born feral, too, but when he got older, and wasn’t as healthy, he chose our staff… he took a long time to pick them, but spent his last 5 years with them. He was a wonderful mentor. In point of fact all furries in my family chose our staff. Except for buying fertile eggs and Katsu, who was born in the shelter, where they volunteer on weekends, we all chose to live together. Katsu and Master Munckin knew each other quite well prior to his official adoption…

Well, Ma has to leave now but wanted to tell you, Ma isn’t very smart sometimes. She put food out on the edge of town where woods line the hills, both sides, and you can hear coyotes at night up there howling. She put food out for ME so I’d always have food out there. She didn’t realize she was attracting every huge Tom Cat around the countryside! That’s a whole different story! Thankfully, she finally figured out what she was doing. I’m still training her! Purrrrr to you and LadyMew

    1. Mewoser Ms. Sandee, I’m glad you think it is okay to share a short story that I think is aww-worthy. That was all from Angel’s purrspective, but I will tell you that his Ma was a doggy person, who had recently lost her elderly doggy, so she was very lonely until Angel moved in. Thus, it is a happy story for both of them.

    1. Happy endings are the very best, aren’t they?
Angel didn’t say so, but prior to him moving in, his mom’s elderly collie died – I think she was 100-something in doggy years…. Did you notice that my furiend, Angel is nearly the same color as a collie?

  4. Thank you for sharing Angel’s letter to you, Purrseidon. What a lovely guy and what a cold and lonely start. Thank goodness he and his Ma met up—were drawn to each other, and share now a happy warm and safer life.
Lots of purrs to you and them alike.

    1. Meowser ERin dear furiend, his letter was to all of us so of course I wanted to share it. What he didn’t tell you is that his Ma was a doggy lover, who had recently lost a beloved, but very old collie… Did you notice that Angel’s fur looks a lot like a collie’s? I’ve always wondered if that was a sign to her.

Ma says I look like her female sable Collie, MaLassie. SirLaddie had black tones too. No one wanted MaLassie and Ma tracked down where she came from and got the boy from a farm in the midwest. He had a big Borsai nose. I can see their spirits in the house. Ma says, they watch over me! Yes, right after MaLassie died, I came along. Hmmmmm, the deer friend and maybe a spirit too! Purrrrr
