February 21st’s Launch

On February 21, 2019 at 8:45 pm EST, SpaceX launched SpaceIL’s lunar lander. This was the first Israeli moon mission and included deployment of Indonesia’s PSN 6 communications satellite. It launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, so I watched it from my purrsonal yard, but then forgot to blog about it until I happened on this video, which has a much better view than my yard does. For sure, I couldn’t see the no-longer-needed bits fall off, then land on that boat in the ocean!

  1. That is cool that you can see it from your yard. Since we live on the other coast we are too far away. I did see the a couple of space shuttle launches from here but only as a distant column of smoke. I also heard the sonic boom a few times as the shuttle passed over us on the way to a Canaveral landing.

    1. Meowser Mr. Charles! Mr. M and pops never missed a launch… The day that one exploded, they came in looking shell-shocked and hoped against hope they hadn’t seen what they thought they saw. But they did see it.
