2. An herb/spice I dislike is pepper…. That stuff is very, very dangerous to sniff. Makes my head feel like it’s ready to explode, and my poor nose usually does… It makes me cry, too.

3.Lately, I have been working on Xander and Mischief’s next adventure… its working title is Purr-se-verence.

4.This Winter was nice and warm, which was lovely, but it also means that most bugs and other annoying things survived.

      2. I’m not so sure about scorpions and mosquitoes, either. I adore watching butterflies and bumblebees and am very upset that the latter are on the endangered lists. =^.^=

      3. Both bees and butterflies are on the endangered list, as I understand it. Yes, that is very distressing! I keep trying to start a butterfly habitat in our yard, but people keep coming to help with the yard work and mowing down the flowers, which is also very upsetting. I always mow around the lantana, but these folks have it mowed over before I even know they’re out there.
        Do you have a habitat in your yard?

      4. Our yard is organic (no poisons, except for fireants) and yes, we have a few butterflies. Alas, in our area, humans have gone crazy over that zika thing and the county sprays pesticide to kill mosquitoes … IMHO, that is far worse than the potential threat from those mosquitoes, but humans apparently disagree…. Since they began spraying, I have seen fewer butterflies, not a single bumble bee and fewer birds… I do not like the way humans are handling this. =^.^=

      5. I don’t like it either. 😦 The poisons are bad for the bugs and the humans. I cough and gag for hours after the mosquito truck goes through. I’d rather take my chances with the mosquitoes. They *might* kill me, but the poison most certainly is.

      6. That is exactly how I see those trucks!!!
        One can roll in ‘nip to repel mosquitoes, but there is no way to avoid that insidious spray, since you can’t even know where it is. =^.^=

      7. Here in our area, you can tell where the truck has been. The cloud of poison hangs there for awhile. One time, I had the misfortune to be behind the spray truck for awhile with no way to escape it. It was awful. I got so sick that night. And, it does nothing to end the mosquitoes. They survive anything, it seems. We got bad news at the vet today. Our grand-dogger Petra was diagnosed with heartworms. We were told that those are caused by mosquitoes, too. 😦

      9. Thank you. We have the heart worm medicine that we have to give her every month, without fail. This is scary for us because we have bad memories. We’ve set up reminders on the Google calendar in addition to asking folks to help us remember to give the medicine to her the 6th of every month. The vet said if we missed or were late with a dose, it could be very bad for her. We definitely don’t want to miss a dose!

        Thankfully, aside from the heart worms and an ear infection, she is perfectly fine, no other parasites were found.

      11. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out they were the dominate species. One thing that I read about whipworms while at the vet’s office was that just one of them can have up to 2000 babies a day! That really adds up and is a very scary thought. I don’t know about heart worm rate of reproduction, but I sure hope they aren’t like the whipworms in that respect.

  3. Stay away from horseradish! If pepper makes your head feel like it may explode, horseradish may make YOU explode! It almost did me in when I was a kid! I am so worried that Summer will be too severe. Thanks for being there for us! HUGS!

    1. I have heard of that horrible herb!!! I hear the Chinese type is even worse… BTW, what type of pepper to you use? Our staff grows habaneros (a.k.a. gringo killers) … they dehydrate it and grind it into a lethal dust.
      I suspect that your horseradish and our type of pepper could both be used in chemical warfare. >^.^<

      2. Mom likes to stuff anchos and we do have jalapenos and chili’s too…. Long before my time, they put some ground habanero powder in a ziplock baggy and gave it to a furiend, who simply wrote ‘pepper’ on the back…His wife went to cook a fine fish dinner for company, saw ‘pepper’ and used the WHOLE BAG on one fish… nearly died at first bite. The folks haven’t given any of that away, since. >^.^<

      4. Barely survived. Fortunately, the way I hear it, their guests loved hot food, so ate it, despite the tears running down their faces…. >^.^<

  7. Oh yes, my cats love their catnip, too! It’s so much fun to watch them after they’ve enjoyed some. 😉

    Warm winters always make me nervous for a too-hot summer coupled with too many surviving bugs!!

    1. Ms. Ellen, I would have said silvervine, but Purr answered the first two questions…. at the moment, Xander and his pesky apprentice are in Crete. =^.^=

    1. M sets great importance on his silvervine sticks, and I assure you that they should never, ever be used in a prank. Pizza is good … really must investigate oregano. >^.^<
